Caries treatment

Caries does not go away on its own: the earlier it is treated, the less work is needed and the cheaper it is. We treat under anaesthesia and restore the shape and colour of the tooth with modern fillings.

When to see a dentist

  • A tooth is sensitive to cold, hot or sweet food.
  • A dark spot has appeared or food gets stuck.
  • It has been a long time since your last check-up — early caries often does not hurt.

How it works

  • Examination and, if needed, an X-ray — we have our own X-ray.
  • Anaesthesia so that treatment is painless.
  • The doctor removes the decay and places a tooth-coloured filling.
  • Polishing and advice on looking after the tooth.

If the caries is deep

  • When the nerve is inflamed, root canal treatment is needed — we do it under a microscope.

Frequently asked questions

Does caries treatment hurt?

Treatment is done under anaesthesia, so it does not hurt. Very anxious patients and children can be treated under sedation.

How long does a filling last?

Many years, if you brush well and come for a check-up every six months.

Can caries be treated in children?

Yes, baby teeth need treatment too. We see children from their first months of life.
